Cesta do Winnipegu na kongres / A Journey to the Congress to Winnipeg.

Winnipeg, downtown

Winnipeg je hlavné mesto kanadskej provincie Manitoba kde je zosústredená asi polovica obyvateľstva provincie s počtom obyvateľov 664 tis. Z Montrealu je to 2 321 km (1 441 míľ) autom a preto sa medzi mestami v Kanade využíva hlavne letecká doprava, ktorou to je 2,5 hodiny. Konal sa tam kongres zaoberajúci sa neurologickými ochoreniami a mala som tam ísť prezentovať svoju prácu z molekulárnej biológie na ktorej som pracovala aj s kolegami v Montreale.

Winnipeg is the capital of the province of Manitoba, Canada, where is concentrated about a half of the population of the province, 664 000. It is 2,321 km away from Montreal (1,441 miles) and therefore, mainly the air transport is used between the cities in Canada. The congress on neurological diseases was held there and I presented our work in molecular biology on which I worked along with colleagues in Montreal. 

Letela som lietadlom spoločnosti  Air Canada a let trval približne 2,5 hodiny.

I flew with Air Canada and the flight lasted approximately 2.5 hours.

Fort Garry Hotel

Do Winnipegu som prišla počas slnečného dňa a z letiska miestnym autobusom to do centra mesta kde bol historický hotel Fort Garry v ktorom sa konal kongres to nebolo ďaleko.  Hotel bol krásny, postavený v roku 1913 jednou národnou železničnou spoločnosťou  v  "château " štýle (zámockom štýle), výrazne kanadskej architektúry. Hotel mal v minulosti slávnych hostí, ako Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Laurence Olivier a kráľovná Elizabeth.

I came to Winnipeg on a sunny day, a local bus from the airport took me to downtown to the historic hotel Fort Garry where the congress was held. The hotel was built by a national railway company in 1913, in the "château" style, a distinctly Canadian form of architecture.The hotel had a history of famous guests as Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Laurence Olivier and Queen Elizabeth.

Arrival / Príchod

Strava bola tiež výborná s najrozsiahlejšími možnosťami ponuky stravovania, vrátane mnohých zdravých možností. Izba bola veľmi pohodlná, prvotriedne postele, posteľná bielizeň a komfort. Na desiatom poschodí je autentický turecký hamam (kúpeľ), ktorý nenájdete nikde inde v Kanade.

Food was also excellent with the most extensive catering menu, including many healthy options. The room was comfortable, soft beds and lining. On the tenth floor there is an authentic Turkish hamam (bath), you will not find anywhere else in Canada.

Fort Garry Hotel

Počas  voľného času na kongrese, prezrela som si downtown, centrum mesta, kde som videla aj veľa  pôvodných obyvateľov Kanady. Winnipeg má najviac domorodých obyvateľov zo všetkých kanadských veľkých miest. Kongres trval 3 dni a do Montrealu som sa vrátila počas pekného slnečného počasia s peknými dojmami a spomienkami.

During free time, I walked through downtown where I saw a lot of aboriginal people. Winnipeg has the most aboriginal  peoples of all major Canadian cities. The congress lasted three days and I came back to Montreal with nice impressions and memories.
