Každé leto sa uzavrie centrálne jadro Montrealu pre dopravu po dobu desiatich dní pretože sa koná Montreal Jazz Festival s vonkajšími voľnými predstaveniami na mnohých scénach súčasne, od poludnia až do polnoci. Predstavenia sa konajú aj v širokom spektre podnikov, od  malých džezových klubov po veľké koncertné sály komplexu Place des Arts. Montreal Jazz Festival je považovaný ako najväčší svetový jazzový festival. Každý rok má zhruba 650 koncertov a víta v blízkosti 2,5 miliónov návštevníkov vrátane turistov (zdroj: Wikipédia).

Each summer, the central core of Montreal is closed to traffic for ten days, as free outdoor shows are opened to the public and held on many stages simultaneously, from noon until midnight. Performances are held in a variety of venues, from small jazz clubs to the large concert halls of the complex Place des Arts. Montreal Jazz Festival is regarded as the world's largest jazz festival. Every year, about 650 concerts welcome about 2.5 million visitors, including tourists (source: Wikipedia).

"Aromatický" čas zvádza mesto do režimu párty a temperamentní Montrealčania zabávajú sa nonstop v horúcich úžasných hviezdnych nociach. Pre špeciálnu atmosféru Festivalu rada idem na Festival metrom do stanice UQAM, kde je námestie hlavného života festivalu blízko Place des Arts. Lepšie je ísť metrom, pretože zaparkovať autom v blízkosti festivalu je väčšinou nemožné. Na námestí sú davy ľudí, a počas niektorých  koncertov fanúšikovia sú tak natlačení, že sa nemôžete pohnúť a musíte si vystáť predstavenie do konca. 

"Aromatic" time seduces the city into a party mode and temperament  Montrealers have nonstop fun during hot amazing starry nights. Due to the spectacular atmosphere, I take the metro and get off at the UQAM station, where the festival life takes place on the main square near Place des Arts. It´s better to take metro, because the parking near the festival area is almost impossible. The square is crowded and during some concerts, fans are so crammed that you can´t move and you have to keep standing until the end of the show.

Preto obyčajne si nájdem miesto na kraji námestia z kadiaľ môžem ľahšie pokračovať na iné miesta Festivalu. Hrajú sa tu rôzne štýly tak ako swing, blues, Dixieland, salsa,  reggae, gypsy gitary a mnohé ďalšie.  Na festivalovom území okrem koncertov vidíte malé obchodíky so suvenírmi Festivalu, galériami, hudobnými CD-čkami, kafé, cukrovinkami a inými špecialitami festivalu. Účinkujú tu tak ako veľké medzinárodné hviezdy jazzu, tak malé vychádzajúce hviezdičky ktoré po Festivale sa stanú slávnejšími. Po skončení predstavení sa domov obyčajne dostanem po polnoci v natlačenom metre, ale stále s výbornou atmosférou Festivalu. 

So, usually I find a place on the edge of the square from where I can easily escape to the other places of Festival. The festival shows include blues, swing, Dixieland, salsa, reggae, gypsy guitars and many more. In addition to the festival concerts, I visit small souvenir shops, galleries, music CDs, coffees, candies and other attractions of the festival. In the festival, both famous international jazz stars and small stars perform who become more famous after the festival. Usually I get home after midnight in the crowded subway, but still with a great festival atmosphere.
