Medulin je dedinka na juhu Istrie v Chorvátsku pri Medulinskom zálive, ktorú sme navštívili pred rokmi. V jeho blízkosti sú krásne kamenisté pláže. Bývali sme v chatách blízko pláže, kde sa nachádzal aj impozantný hotel Holiday. Počas dňa sme sa slnili na pláži, často sme počuli v blízkosti taliančinu turistov príchodiacich z blízkeho Talianska stráviť víkend do Medulinu a Nemcov, ktorí tvorili väčšinu turistov. Predvečerom sme hrávali tenis v tenisových kurtoch pri hoteli, alebo sme sa zabávali  v miestnych tavernách. Niektorý deň trochu spŕchlo a vtedy sme plávali vo vonkajších bazénoch s morskou vodou. Prešli sme sa aj po dedine, ktorej kamenisté domy s drevenými okenicami pripomínali typickú architektúru Stredomoria.


Medulin is a village in south Istria, Croatia, in the Medulin bay, where we have spent the holiday. In its vicinity, beautiful rocky beaches are linked by blue sea. We stayed in cottages near the beach close to the Holiday Hotel. We were sunbathing on the beach, often heard Italians arriving from nearby Italy to spend a weekend in Medulin, and Germans accounting for the majority of tourists.

Late afternoons, we played tennis and had fun in the local taverns. Some days were rainy a bit and then, we swam in outdoor pools filled with the sea water. We also walked in the village where stone houses with wooden shutters resembled the typical Mediterranean architecture. 

Asi 10 km od Medulinu sme navštívili najväčšie mesto a prístav Istrijského polo-ostrova, Pulu. V 1. storočí pred n. l. tu Rimania založili kolóniu, z ktorého obdobia pochádza mnoho pamiatok.  My sme navštívili amfiteáter, ktorý bol postavený na štýl Kolosea v Ríme.  Prví Slovania sem prišli v 7. storočí. V 19. storočí sa mesto dostalo pod vládu Rakúsko-Uhorska ako jeden z najvýznamnejších rakúskych prístavov. Po páde monarchie sa mesto dostalo pod správu Talianska a zotrvalo pod ňou až do konca druhej svetovej vojny, keď bola Pula pričlenená k Juhoslávii. V tom čase žilo v meste približne 90 % obyvateľov talianskej národnosti.

About 10km from Medulin, we visited the largest city and the port of Istria, Pula. In the 1st century BC, the Romans founded there the colony, from which  many historical sites are coming. We visited the amphitheatre built in the style of the Colosseum in Rome. The first Slavs were here in the 7th century. In the 19th century, Pula came under the rule of Austria-Hungary as one of the most important Austrian ports. After the fall of the monarchy, the city came under the Italian administration until the end of World War II, when Pula became a part of the former Yugoslavia. At that time, about 90% of Italians lived there.

Naša dovolenka v tejto oblasti Chorvátska bola pokojná a úplne sme zrelaxovali pri nebovo priezračnom slanom Jadranskom mori na ktoré dodnes spomíname.

Our holiday in this region of Croatia was calm and we got completely relaxed at the clear salty Adriatic Sea that we remember up today.
