Jeseň vo Vermonte / The Fall in Vermont, USA / Automne dans le Vermont

Ak sa chcete dostať z Východného pobrežia severnej Ameriky do Quebeku, hlavne do Montrealu, musíte prejsť cez Green Mountains ktoré sa tiahnu Vermontom, štátom v USA susediacim s Quebekom.  Pôvodne bol osídlený Francúzmi a jeho názov pochádza z francúzskych slov mont vert – zelená hora. Opačne, veľa Montrealčanov jazdí do Vermontu, či už na nákupy s tovarom lacnejším než v Quebeku, alebo na svoje letné sídla, chaty, ktoré obyčajne majú vystavené pri jazere Champlain. Toto veľké jazero je pomenované po francúzskom cestovateľovi Samuel de Champlain, ktorý preskúmal priľahlé oblasti Severnej Ameriky a založil mesto Quebec. 

If you want to get from the east coast of North America to Quebec, especially to Montreal, you have to pass through the Green Mountains stretching Vermont, a state in the United States, neighbouring with Quebec. Vermont was originally settled by the French, its name comes from French words mont vert - green mountain. Conversely, many Montrealers ride to Vermont, either for shopping cheaper than that in Quebec, or to their cottages close to Lake Champlain. This large lake is named after the French traveler Samuel de Champlain, who explored the surrounding areas of North America and founded City of Quebec.

Jeseň vo Vermonte je krásna. Vidieť to na rôznofarebnej scenérii hôr, ktorá tvorí väčšinu územia. Moji priatelia v Montreale tam majú chaty na ktoré chodia víkendovať a tak som s nimi navštívila jesenný Vermont. Z Montrealu je to len 1,5 hodiny, ale niekedy sa to predĺži, hlavne čakaním v radoch na Kanadsko-USA hranici. Vo Vermonte ma najviac zaujalo jazero Champlain dlhé okolo 200 km, takže máte dojem, že je to rieka. Vidíte na ňom rekreantov prevádzajúci rôzne vodné športy, alebo len sa premávajú na vlnách v člnoch a jachtách. Cez víkend je tu veľa turistov. Prechádzka prírodou popri pobreží pripomína nedotknutú prírodu, vzdialenosť medzi chatami je v rozmedzí 100 metrov, niekedy viac. Susedia letných domov sa niekedy navštevujú, trávia spoločné večere pri krbe alebo von robiac barbecue.

 The fall in Vermont is beautiful. The multicoloured scenery of mountains forms most of the territory. My friends in Montreal have summer residences in Vermont and spending often weekends there. Once I have visited with them Vermont during the fall. From Montreal it's only 1.5 hours to drive, but sometimes it is extended, especially waiting in lines in front of the Canada-US border. Vermont intrigued me with Lake Champlain about 200 km long, giving an impression that it is a river. You can see there holidaymakers doing various water sports or just sailing on waves in boats and yachts. During weekends, tourists are coming here. Nature walks along the coast remind untouched nature, the distance between the cottages is within 100 meters, sometimes more. Neighbours sometimes visit each other, spend dinners by the fireplace or out doing barbecue.

Na ceste k St. Anne´s Shrine, najstaršieho osídlenia prisťahovalcami v r. 1666, v blízkosti ktorého moji známi majú chatu, sú príbytky obyvateľov USA vyzdobené počas jesenných slávností a sviatkov. Môžete zastaviť auto, vyjsť von a porozprávať sa s obyvateľmi ktorí sú pred svojim domom. Americkú vlajku vidíte na každom kroku svedčiac o patriotizme Američanov. Po skončení víkendu na ceste späť do Montrealu, moji známi ešte zastavia v obchodoch predávajúcich potraviny, značkové vína a iné alkoholické nápoje, ktoré sú bez cla a teda výhodné kúpy. Na hranici smerom k Montrealu nie sú rady áut a prechod je rýchly. Približujúc sa k Montrealu po diaľnici, premávka sa zvyšuje spolu s budovami a hlukom, napriek zlatistému západu slnka. To nás prebudí z tichého a čarovného sveta Vermontských hôr vo veľkomeste plného ruchu, udalostí, atrakcií a rušnej premávky...

On the way to St. Anne's Shrine, the oldest settlement of white immigrants in 1666, near the cottages of my friends, the abodes of Americans are decorated during the fall festivities and holidays. You can stop, go out and talk to the people who are in front of their houses. You can see often on the way the American flag testifying to the patriotism of Americans. After the end of the weekend on the way back to Montreal, my friends still stop in shops selling food, branded wines from France, South America and other alcoholic beverages, which are free of duty and therefore worthy to make bargains. On the border towards Montreal, there are not queues and one can move fast. Approaching Montreal, highway traffic is increasing along with the buildings and noise, despite the golden sunset. It wakes us from silent and magical world of Vermont mountains into a city full of tourism, events, attractions and busy traffic ...
